The recent uptick in spyware usage by government agencies and nefarious actors has a lot of folks talking about mitigation and digital security. Today, we want to share a simple trick you iPhone users can do to better secure yourself against the little snitch in your pocket.
RESTART YOUR PHONE EVERY DAY!
That’s right! Sometimes it IS really that easy. A number of spyware and malware programs cannot survive a restart. That’s because many rely on your phone’s memory and aren’t technically installed. That memory resets when your iPhone is restarted. This quick fix is not 100% protection against all spyware and malware, but it gets rid of a lot of them. And, if you receive a junk text in the middle of the day, it might be worth restarting your phone immediately after deletion. While rare, some zero-day malware over the years have been found to install without even clicking anything, such as Paragon’s Graphite and NSO Group’s Pegasus. Your best defense against these is to enable Lockdown Mode.
Unfortunately, these little tricks don’t work quite as well for Android users. While a factory reset might get some – it’s time consuming and unrealistic to perform frequently. Your best defense is to enable Advanced Protection Mode.
Be careful out there!
