2015 has been a big year for direct action and the CLDC. We worked with activists in Seattle and Portland as they held #ShellNo protests to stop shell from drilling in the arctic (which was successful). We also worked with NoKXL activists who continued to apply pressure on decision makers until they finally backed down and stopped the Keystone XL project.
We are currently providing legal support and defense to animal rights activists in the northwest who are fighting against the construction of new animal testing labs, including defending activists from SLAPP suits brought by corporations.
We also held our 2nd annual Next Generation Climate Justice Action camp where we trained more than 20 youth activists, giving them the skills and experience needed to continue to be involved and become leaders in social justice movements.
We continue to work with at-risk communities to provide them with know your rights trainings and how to confront police misconduct and racial profiling including becoming videographers to watch cops.
Because of the nature of our radical work we never receive funding from corporations, government grants, or billionaires. We rely on the support of people like you.
