Helpline Cards
Civil Liberties Defense Center has responded to the needs of our local community by standing up a CLDC Legal Helpline. The phone number for the line is (541) 603-6891.The CLDC Helpline is available for progressive activists and organizations in the Eugene/Lane County area to use if they have a legal emergency or urgent request for a CLDC movement lawyer. Nothing discussed on this line forms an attorney client privileged relationship without explicit agreement between the caller and a CLDC lawyer.
Examples of “legal emergencies” include:
*protestors/activists are being threatened by police with arrest or physical violence and organizers either need a know your rights consult with attorney or are requesting an attorney on the ground.
*protestors/activists have been arrested and are in need of an urgent attorney jail visit or consultation
*organizers are requesting rapid response NLG Legal Observers
NEVER TELL A LAWYER ABOUT A FUTURE POTENTIAL CRIMINAL ACT YOU MAY BE CONSIDERING!
This is not a commitment that CLDC’s small team of lawyers and legal workers can respond to you in every moment, though we will try to have the phone on us most of the time. A Helpline means that we will respond within 12 hours, with the length of time longer if your call comes in at night or on a weekend.
If your matter is not an emergency, please use the normal CLDC contact methods cldc.org/contact or office phone M-F 9-5 (541) 687-9180.
