Calling all trained legal observers (or those willing to be trained asap), the CLDC will be providing legal support to the Winnemem Wintu Tribe again this year and we hope you will join us (again)!

Anyone interested in volunteering and/or legal observing during the Balas Chonas (Coming of Age) ceremony should contact Lauren Regan as soon as possible.
Ph: 541-687-9180

email lregan@cldc.org.

You must ‘register’ with Lauren before showing up to legal observe. Participants and volunteers will be asked to adhere to the Tribe’s ceremonial rules and customs.

Join us for a fun and meaningful experience in solidarity with Indian activists and indigenous women (Winnemem are a very cool salmon oriented-matriarchal tribe)

Ceremony dates: July 20-23, 2013

Brief details:
We perform legal observing during tribal sacred ceremonies so the members can focus on the ceremony and not on law enforcement.

Food is provided by the tribe (vegans may want to bring some of their own)

Bring:
walk talkies (no cell or internet service on site)
Tent, sleeping bag, etc.
River gear (kayaks, inter tubes, life jackets, sun and swimming gear)
Be prepared for hot days and cool nights
Head lamps, flashlights, extra batteries
Water bottles, notepad, pens, legal observer hat if you have it

All legal observers will be camping together in one area.
