The Green Scare is the federal government's ongoing prosecution of environmental and animal rights activists. It includes the government, corporations, and politicians labeling activists as "ecoterrorists" and national security threats and giving them to long prison sentences.

Newly released FBI presentations show the flawed and misleading information the government is using to train agents to identify and investigate “domestic terrorist” groups such as “black separatists,” anarchists, animal rights activists, and environmentalists.
Chris Hedges writes on Truthdig.com about Tarek Mehanna, a U.S. citizen, who was sentenced in April in Worcester, Mass., to 17½ years in prison. Hedges says,"It was another of the tawdry show trials held against Muslim activists since 9/11 as a result of the government’s criminalization of what people say and believe."
